The Gathering Church was founded in 2018 by Gerald and Lynn Johnson. After more than 30 years in active ministry in churches both in the United States and abroad, they felt God’s call to gather the wondering, the wandering and the wounded in Michigan. The instruction was very simple - teach people about the pure and simple life found in Christ.

The balanced Christian experience starts with loving God, myself and others, living the abundant life he has for me, and serving my family, my community and generation.

We all need to be part of a family of believers where worship, relationships and edification are easy.

Purity means that we are always aligned with the word of God. Simple is how we make the word understandable, approachable, attainable, and livable.

we believe
that God has provided a better way for us to live:

God
We believe in one God. He is the creator of all things and infinitely perfect. He created man as His highest achievement. He loves mankind and desires a relationship with every one of us.​

Mankind
Everyone is uniquely created and deserving of dignity, respect and Christian love. Mankind was created in God’s image to be in relationship with Him and extend Heaven’s rule to the earth. However, Sin - the choices we make that hurt us and hurt God’s heart – caused a break in that relationship. But, God created the way for us to restore the relationship and dominion.

Jesus
Jesus is the son of God sent to be the way for mankind to restore the relationship with God, to teach us truths thru His example enabling us to make better choices and empowering us to take the right path to our best life.

Holy Spirit
After Jesus left this earth and returned to heaven, the Holy Spirit was sent to be with us as an assurance of our restored relationship with God. He enables us to understand and appreciate the truths of the Bible. And through the Holy Spirit, we find the strength and desire to become our best selves and help others.

The Bible
The Bible is how God has chosen to preserve a record of His love towards mankind. It reveals His character, His ways and provides us with a source of guidance for life and relationship with Him. It is the supreme source of truth and when properly understood and practiced, it shows us how to love God, ourselves and others. Ultimately, leading us to live a fulfilled life.

The Church
The church refers to the universe of all those that believe in Jesus Christ as the way to a restored relationship with God. When we GATHER together to express love towards God, to learn His truths, encourage each other through our shared experiences with God, and work collectively to help others, we become a True expression of his church.
